Three uncapped players named in Pakistan’s ODI squad for New Zealand series
Pakistan have named a strong 16-man squad for the three-match ODI series against New Zealand that begins on January 9 in Karachi.
Pakistan have named uncapped domestic batter Tayyab Tahir for the three home ODIs against New Zealand in Karachi. Tahir, 29, has a promising List A record, averaging 43.95 in 49 matches with three hundreds and 15 fifties.
Shadab Khan is a notable absentee in the squad, having suffered a finger injury during his stint with the Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League. Uncapped 27-year-old leg-spinner Usama Mir has been named in his stead.
There was no room for Abrar Ahmed who has been impressive with the red ball since making a stunning debut against England last month.
Kamran Ghulam, who was named in the Test squad recently, also gets a call-up to the ODI squad.
Squad: Babar Azam (c), Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Haris Sohail, Imam-ul-Haq, Kamran Ghulam, Mohammad Hasnain, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Rizwan (wk), Mohammad Wasim Jnr, Naseem Shah, Salman Agha, Shahnawaz Dahani, Shan Masood, Tayyab Tahir, Usama Mir
